What is Sealk?

Sealk is all-natural, plant based, biocompatible, water soluble, etherified sodium carboxymethyl cellulose matrix that utilizes patented technology to achieve superior hemostasis.

  • Powered by BloodSTOP IX Advanced Hemostat with WoundHeal
  • FDA approved for wound hemostasis
  • Activates growth factors, promoting tissue regeneration and angiogenesis
  • Decreases inflammatory cytokines, reducing infection and inflammation risks.
  • Reduces pain and time needed for pain medication
  • Improves tonsil and adenoid surgery recovery
  • Prevents contamination, conforms to and adheres to wound sites
  • Rapid hemostasis (bleeding control) for minor to larger wounds

Sealk utilizes advanced technology that provides power to control bleeding and quickly heal. Once applied to the wound and upon contact with blood, exudates (fluid from a wound or incision), or body fluids, Sealk turns into a sticky transparent gel. Sealk is reliable and fast acting which allows surgeons to focus on the operative tasks with confidence and helps the patients recovery be more manageable.

Sealk stops bleeding fast, initiates blood coagulation, forms a protective membrane layer, creating an optimal environment for fast wound healing. This lowers the need for cauterizing (burning) wounds, especially in younger children, and reduces the need and time for pain medications. It is also easily removable without disruption of the clotted surface.

How It Works Visual Guide

Advanced Wound Care Technology How it Works
Sealk is an FDA-approved complete wound care solution for surgical bleeding control that also helps with aftercare. Following ENT procedures, such as tonsil or adenoid surgery, kids typically have sore throats, a hard time swallowing, and there is a lot of discomfort. If a scab comes off of the wound they could also cough up blood or choke. Sealk is less irritating on the throat, and there is less scabbing on the wound.

Clinical Indications

Sealk is indicated for use as an adjunctive hemostatic and protective wound dressing in ENT surgical procedures where control of bleeding and post-operative tissue protection are desired.

Primary Indications

Tonsillectomy (pediatric and adult)

Adenoidectomy

Tonsillectomy with adenoidectomy (T&A procedures)

Patient Profile

Sealk may be considered in:

Pediatric tonsillectomy patients

Patients at higher risk of post-operative pain or dehydration

Cases where minimizing opioid use is desired

Patients requiring enhanced post-operative recovery experience

Clinical Use Case

Sealk is applied intraoperatively to the tonsillar fossae following removal of tonsillar tissue to:

Assist in hemostasis at the surgical site

Provide a protective gel barrier over exposed tissue

Support improved wound healing conditions

Reduce post-operative discomfort associated with scab formation and tissue exposure

Surgical Timing

Applied immediately following tonsil removal

Delivered directly to the surgical site prior to completion of procedure

Does not require additional OR time or specialized equipment

Mechanism of Action (Clinical Summary)

Sealk forms a transparent, adherent gel layer over the surgical wound, which:

Supports hemostasis

Maintains a moist wound environment

Reduces scab formation severity

Protects exposed nerve endings during healing

Why This Matters in Tonsillectomy

Peak pain occurs Days 5–7 due to scab separation

Traditional healing leaves exposed tissue vulnerable

Sealk provides a protective barrier through this critical window
